Ahmad Ahmad beat Issa Hayatou to become the new boss of CAF; these are five things you should know about him.
There is a new president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and he is Ahmad Ahmad.
Ahmad on Thursday, March 15 defeated CAF’s long-serving boss Issa Hayatou to become the new president.
Until he revealed his bid for CAF presidency, Ahmad Ahmad was a relatively unknown man.

These are five things you should know about him.
1. Former footballer
Ahmad Ahmad was a former football who played for Club des Finances de Antananarivo and AC Sotema Mahajanga, both in Madagascar.
He was however not ever selected for the national team.
2. Politics
After his football career, Ahmad went into politics, business and education.
He was appointed Sports Minister as a 34-year-old, to become one of the youngest ministers in the country.
He ran a printing company and a farm and was at the same time studying Sports Administration at the Université Claude Bernard de Lyon in France.
3. Madagascar FA

Ahmad who’s known as the ‘Man of the Football’ in Madagascar has served three terms as FA President of Madagascar.

4. Malagasy Senate
Ahmad Ahmad is currently the Vice President of the Malagasy Senate after he was elected in February 2015.
5. Corruption Allegations
Ahmad has also been implicated in the 2022 World Cup bribe-taking.
The Sunday Times said he received between $30,000 and $100,000 for his vote. The Madagascar soccer chief has called the allegations unfounded.
