TripleMG act Chibbz is one artist that could be said to be bubbling under, waiting to showcase his musical talent and win the hearts of many more music loving audience in Nigeria and beyond.
Signed to TripleMG in 2016, Chibbz is armed with a number of records that
proves he’s not a flash in the pan, and if he persists, he should become a household name in earnest.
Pulse Music gets to ask him a couple of questions to find out what he’s got in stock for the fans in 2017.
Has there been a major improvement with your craft since you signed to TripleMG?
Most definitely, I represent a brand that has been tested and proven, a brand that has produced superstars. I would like my case to be the same so I work to be on top of my game.
How's your workflow been since you signed with TripleMG?
I put pressure on myself at times, although the talent is God-given I put in work everyday in the studio, keeping up with my manager, road-manager etc. I listen to advice and I still try to do what's best for my brand, I'm still new to the market. I have a lot to learn but I'm willing.
How well do you think Nigerians are receiving your singles such as 'Hey ma'?
The reception from "Hey Ma" has been great and I believe it will go further in the next couple weeks as we give it the necessary push. I'm really excited about the record, it came from a happy place
What's keeping you going as an artist?
The music, the people that love the music I make, and definitely God. Sometimes I get overwhelmed by certain things but I find peace here. I feel like I'm in the right place with music.
What's your outlook on the Nigerian music industry? Any suggestions you have for its betterment?
In the general sense of it, It's great I can't complain when it comes to the quality of music that's being put out. I mean Nigerian music has gone international. On the other hand I believe anything that involves a select few to dictate what and who gets played will always have glitches. At the end of the day it's the fans choice to decide what's hot or not. Also not to be redundant, the issue of royalties needs to be fixed. But I believe it's in an upward state now, great things ahead.
You used to rap growing up? What happened to that part of your artist repertoire?
I still have it, I don't think it'll ever leave me. I'll bring it out in due time.
Do you think you are getting enough publicity and opportunities to show what you can offer to Nigerians with your music?
I'm still new so it's hard to judge, but I believe I'll have better publicity than I've had. The team here on Made Men Music got my back and I'll be in your faces this year.
What's the plan for 2017?
I just want to make great records, and play great shows gaining great fans across the globe. So help me God.
