The Rivers state Police commissioner, Bolaji Odesanya is dead.
The Guardian reports that Odesanya died in Dubai where he went for medical treatment.
“He has been battling with sickness in recent times. He was in Dubai for treatment but I cannot confirm if he died in Dubai or Nigeria,” the source said.
Odesanya replaced Foluso Adebanjo as Rivers state commissioner in August 2015.
Odesanya joined the force on February 2, 1986, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.
Meanwhile, the Rivers ministry of health has confirmed a case of Lassa fever in a private health facility in the state.
The commissioner for health, Dr Theophilus Odagme, disclosed to newsmen in Port Harcourt on Wednesday that the patient had been managed, fully recovered and discharged.
