We take a look at the five times the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have won the have won the AFON title.

Cameroon win AFCON


The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon on Sunday, February 5 beat Egypt 2-1 to lift the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (ACON) title.

The Indomitable Lions showed remarkable character to come from behind and beat Egypt 2-1 in a brilliant game at the Stade de l'Amitie in Libreville with Nicolas Nkoulou and Vincent Aboubakar scoring to spark wild celebrations.
That was their fifth AFCON title since the inception of the competition in 1957.
We take a look at the five times they have won it.
Ivory Coast 1984
Antoine Bell and Roger Milla
The David Duque Ferreira led team beat Nigeria in the final of the 1984 AFCON to win their first title. Goals from René N'Djeya, Théophile Abega and Ernest Ebongué were all the Indomitable Lions needed to win beat Nigeria who got their only goal from Mudashiru Lawal.
Morocco 88
Two years after their first win, Cameroon beat the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the final of Morocco 88 to get their hands on a second AFCON title.
Emmanuel Kundé scored the only goal in the game.
Nigeria/Ghana 2000
Indomitable Lions of CameroonThe Indomitable Lions of Cameroon continued their AFCON final winning streak against Nigeria by beating the Super Eagles co-host of 2000 AFCON.
Samuel Eto'o and Patrick M'Boma scored for Cameroon before Raphael Chukwu and Jay Jay Okocha equalised for the Super Eagles to force the game into extra-time and penalties.
The Indomitable Lions finally won the game 4-3 on penalties to lift their third AFCON title.
Mali 2002
Cameroon players
The Indomitable Lions defended their title in 2002 by beating Senegal in the final via penalties. Cameroon beat Senegal 3-2 on penalties to lift their fourth AFCON title.
Gabon 2017
Cameroon players
Cameroon’s title win at the just concluded AFCON was their fifth. They defeated Egypt 2-1 in the final.
